Why Does QuickBooks Desktop Cost Less Here?
Sep 20, 2026 · 4 min read
Customers ask us this often, usually phrased bluntly — and they are right to ask. When software that costs several hundred dollars elsewhere is offered for a fraction of that, scepticism is the correct instinct. Here is the actual explanation.
The difference is the licensing model
Intuit sells QuickBooks Desktop as an annual subscription. You pay every year, and the payment covers the software plus ongoing updates and support for that period. Stop paying, and access stops.
We sell a one-time license for the 2024 release. You pay once, install it, and that version is yours. There is no recurring charge, and there is nothing to renew.
That is the whole difference in cost structure. You are not buying the same thing at a discount — you are buying a different arrangement.
What you get, stated plainly
- A genuine license number, product number, and validation code
- The official installer from Intuit's own website — not a modified or repackaged file
- The 2024 release, which you keep
What you do not get
We would rather you know this before you buy than after:
- No automatic upgrade to future years. You have the 2024 release. A 2026 or 2027 version would be a separate purchase.
- Support for the software itself comes from us, not from Intuit. If you call Intuit about a license bought here, they will not support it — and they may tell you the purchase is not legitimate.
That last point catches people off guard, so it is worth being direct about: we are an independent reseller. We are not affiliated with Intuit, we do not claim to be, and Intuit does not vouch for resellers.
How to decide whether to trust us
Do not take our word for it. Reasonable checks:
- We publish a full street address and company details on this site, not just a contact form
- Our refund policy is published, with a 30-day window
- Payment runs through Stripe, which handles the card data — we never see it, and you keep Stripe's own dispute protections
- Our support answers within 30 minutes, and you can test that before buying
If something does not add up for you, do not buy. That is a sensible position with any online purchase, and we would rather have a cautious customer than a regretful one.
Who this is right for
A one-time license makes sense if you want a version you keep, you do not need the newest release every year, and you are done paying monthly for accounting software. If you want continuous upgrades and Intuit's own support line, buying directly from Intuit is the better fit — and we would tell you so.
